Portland State University Athletics
The Portland State Vikings compete in the Big Sky Conference of the NCAA in basketball, cross country, football, golf, soccer, softball, and track. Portland State’s Outdoor Program gives students the opportunity to enjoy the natural resources of the surrounding environment by rock climbing, kayaking, and hiking. A sailing club is also available to students interested in boating. The University’s athletic facilities are located in the center of campus and are available to all students.
Portland State University is an NCAA Division I school, with basketball, cross-country, football, tennis, track & field, and wrestling for men and basketball, cross-country, golf, soccer, softball, track & field, and volleyball for women. There are also women’s cheer and dance teams. The team nickname is the Vikings. Sports facilities include a large field, tennis courts, and an athletic building.
